The final plan

Well, it seems this is turning into "our summer vacation" rather than "Route 66". It is a long way down to LA and then back home from Gallup. We've made two significant changes since our last posting. First, Portland to Visalia is just too long for our first day (750+ miles). Since I'll be seeing my buddy Mike (who lives in Visalia) at a high school reunion later in the summer, we cut Visalia from the plan. Instead we will go down "The 5" as far as Lathrop the first night. It looks like Lathrop is the last real town on I5 before the drive through the middle of the valley.

The second change is that we will split the drive from Moab to Boise into 2 parts. Part 1 will be to Ogden; then from Ogden to Boise. Part of this is because of the distance, but just as important it gets us into Boise for the Wednesday "Alive After 5" bash at the Grove Hotel. That should be a good opportunity to hang with some old friends in the city of trees.

BTW, I was only 3 years ahead of you in HS, and my HS reunion is this summer too, so how can you be having a reunion the same year?
